EDIT: Oh, and maybe an explanation would be good. orz *smacks self* Seifer is a SOLDIER First Class. He and Zack got to 'know' each other on a mission
The shower cut off with a low hiss and Seifer shoved his dripping bangs back with one hand, blinking water out of his eyes as he reached for the shower curtain.
The standard issue curtain pulled back with a ratcheting scrape that made the bare-chested SOLDIER standing at the sink glance over at him, a smile spreading around the obnoxiously blue toothbrush hanging from the corner of his mouth.
“Mmng!” Zack Fair mumbled cheerily. “Ho weryoo?”
Seifer fixed him with a raised eyebrow, doing his best to look authoritative with water dripping off his nose. “Fair, what the hell are you doing in my bathroom?”
“Dm mmtrth ofthim myoom,” Zack told him, gesturing absently with his free hand.
“Uh huh. And once again without the toothbrush perhaps?”
Zack’s expression went vaguely sheepish. “Thorry.” He bent forward and spat into the sink, dog tags clinking against white ceramic. “The water’s off in my room,” he repeated more clearly, setting his toothbrush on the ledge next to Seifer’s. He leaned one hip against the sink, lips quirking with wry amusement. “Some Third down the hall cast Haste on the hot water tank all the pipes in his bathroom exploded. The whole floor’s swimming in two inches of water right now.”
“Don’t care,” Seifer shot back candidly, stepping out of the tub and leaving wet footprints on the floor. “What are you doing in my bathroom?”
Zack blinked at him innocently. “Borrowing your shower?” he tried.
Seifer snorted. “Go use the public showers in the Regular barracks,” he ordered, snagging a towel off the rack.
“And miss this view?” Zack protested, waggling his eyebrows suggestively. “Not on your life.”
“Moron,” Seifer told him, rubbing the towel brusquely over his arms and legs. “What makes you think I’m going to humour you?”
“Because if you were going to throw me out, you’d have done it already,” Zack answered cheekily, eyes following the towel’s circuit without even an attempt at subtlety. “And I am irresistible, you know.”
“Could have fooled me.” Seifer draped the towel around his shoulders and stepped forward, careless of his nudity as he reached past Zack to swipe at the condensation misting across the mirror. “Is this going to become a habit?”
The amusement in Zack’s eyes was almost as warm as his skin. “They said they’ll have the pipes fixed this afternoon,” he offered, not even close to an answer. Which was just like the sneaky bastard, but Seifer was starting to get used to that.
He humphed dismissively. “Fine. Do whatever you like.” He reached for a comb, feeling the pull of his damp skin against Zack’s. “It’s not like I pay for the water.”
“Great, thanks,” Zack said, and Seifer caught his arm before he could shift back, the decidedly predatory smirk on his face doing absolutely nothing to curb the grin on Zack’s. Which was just the way he liked things.
“Next time,” he murmured, leaning in close enough to feel the prickle of stubble along Zack’s jaw. “Make sure you show up in time to share.”
And Zack just chuckled. “Can do, boss. Can do.”
